Happy Sunday love!🌻
Before we brew today's cup of sunshine, remember the story I mentioned last time? The one I shared on Medium about scars? I recently revisited it, and it really hit home all over again. Now I’m thinking of posting it here too.
Not quite sure though. What do you think?🤔
That being said, I have a question for you today..
Do you study your Bible?
Okay hold on, chances are, the last time you heard this question was from someone that wanted to guilt-trip you for your “laziness”.
But trust me, this time it's nothing like that.
As a matter of fact, I'm asking because I too have been struggling to fit in study into my life, that already have no breathing space😑.
Sometimes, I eventually manage to.
And when I do, I have no idea what to study. Which now gives room for me to feel overwhelmed.
There was even this season in my life where I’d just open my Bible at random, and study whatever page I opened first.
Pretty soon, after opening the same page four times in a row, I knew I needed a better plan🤦🏽♀️.
However, this Thursday, something happened.
After my workout, I reached for a podcast like I usually do, and realized I hadn’t listened to Ezinne Zara in forever.
So I clicked on an episode she recorded with Esther Ideh, and honestly? I’m convinced God led me there. That episode spoke directly to the very thing He has been drawing my attention to lately.
Trust the Holy Spirit to convict me of my many blunders.
A major one? Every morning, I breeze through the Bible chapters for the day, maybe even save some verses for Substack notes, and then check the “Read Bible” box like I've done some deep spiritual work.
That's it.
Till tomorrow. Same time, same place.
El oh el…
If your eyebrow’s is raised at this point like “What's wrong with adding Bible reading to your to-do lists?” The answer is absolutely nothing.
In fact, it's daily reading that has helped me make it through so much of the Bible. Not to earn any spirit points, but so I'm not entirely clueless of the very blueprint of my life.
Along the way, I've stumbled on some very fascinating facts. Like the place where the preacher speaks about the silver cord of life Ecclesiastes 12:6, or that King Og of Bashan was giant Deuteronomy 3:11.
The point is, reading is great, but reading is just not enough.
This book of the law is to be studied, to be consumed with intentionality and a posture that says “God I'm listening”
And that's what God has been trying to tell me…
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
—Joshua 1:8 NKJV
Personally, I believe the Bible isn't something you ever really finish studying. That's a lifelong journey. You wouldn’t even remember them all if you gave it your best shot.
And that's where the Holy Spirit comes in.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
—John 14:26 NKJV
He will not only decode the mysteries of the word, but also bring them to your remembrance.
But if you're not studying at all, what's the Holy Spirit supposed to remind you of??
You might’ve cooked up a hot pot of chicken stew today, but this, this is the bread of heaven we’re talking about.
And if you say you’re hungry for God, then best believe you’ll sit down and eat.
Coffee in hand, if you like☕🙃
I'm saying all this to say, I too, I'm starving.😑
So if you're out there, keeping it all together like a functional adult, yet genuinely hungry for more of God, aching to see Jesus more clearly, then surely, there's gotta be something.
It's not random.
That kind of hunger doesn't just show up without reason.
Maybe the right question should be “How do you study your Bible?”

After all, creation has been waiting in hope for the sons of God to be revealed.
